For LGBTQ+ families (and allies!), creating a playroom that celebrates inclusion, empathy, and identity can make a powerful impact.
Here’s how to build a playroom that embraces love in all its forms:
💜 1. Representation Matters
Choose and celebrate books, dolls, puzzles, and toys that reflect a wide range of identities and family structures. Kids notice who’s included—and who’s left out.
💚 2. Color outside the lines
Skip the “boy toys” and “girl toys”. Choose open-ended toys that encourage imagination, creativity, and self-expression—whatever form that takes.
🧡 3. Use Inclusive Language
During play, storytelling, or reading time, use language that reflects all kinds of families and identities. Normalize pronoun use and introduce conversations about kindness, acceptance, and love.
